break

I'll be away for a week at my favourite place. In fact I am already here.
I mentioned earlier my newly found interest in crocheting. Now I am totally hooked on making these little amigurumis. I bought this book by Mia Bengtsson. It's great.
If you are interested too, check out her blog
Have a happy weekend everyone!

corner view - best kept secrets - stockholm

When reflecting this week's theme I thought about my love for hidden or secret gardens. Gardens invisible from the street. Gardens that surprise you when you open the gate or pass a corner. Sitting in a city garden. Surrounded by flowers and buzzing insects , the sounds of traffic and street life in the background. That's a 'best kept secret' to me.

In my garden the sweet peas are in bloom. Their scent is heavy, sweet and wonderful.

hannah skoonberg

My googling focus right now is crocheting and lino print tutorials. (and - totally besides the point - as I always want to know more about the author of the book I currently read - I am amazed to find out that Harper Lee and Truman Capote were close childhood friends) I found Sangha by Hannah Skoonberg while searching 'lino print'. Isn't it amazing? I carved a potatoe yesterday and managed something that with a lover's eye maybe would bear a tiny recemblance to the leaf that I used as a model.

jonas lindholm

These bowls are by ceramist Jonas Lindholm. I got the bigger one when graduating from university 10 years ago. I can't seem to find much info about Lindholm on the web. I know that part of his work is available at Norrgavel and he's a member of Konsthantverkarna in Stockholm.
I asked about him at Norrgavel but they didn't know that much.

Miko Design

Yesterday I met another blogger for the first time in my life (meet deliberately that is, I guess). I did a post about this fantastic play house and it turned out that Erika of Miko Design was going on vacation to Stockholm. We brought our kids and met in Vasaparken, Stockholm. I had such a great time talking to Erika, watching our kids play. We got these wonderful gifts that Erika made. The robot is actually drawn by Erika and her girls together. My smaller kids slept with their gifts in their beds last night. Thank you so much all three of you for a great blog/play date. I could have talked forever.

I ordered this poster from fenomenal Christopher David Ryan two weeks ago and I got it today.

tiles

I first saw these screen printed tiles in a magazine a couple of years ago. I lost the magazine and forgot the name of the designer. Regularly since I've been thinking about them and even been to different shops trying to describe them. No luck until just now when I found them by a lucky chance. They are made by Ylva W Franzén. This time I won't forget!

corner view-the unveiling

Sorry I am late. I guess this is not a real unvealing but still. I started riding school when i was six and rode until I was 20 years old. Then I moved to the city and started university and there were neither time nor money for horses. I started taking lessons again at 30 and I love it. I love everything about horses. The riding, the grooming, taking out the dung, the smell. I love that I am a lousy rider and no one cares. Being with horses makes me calm and very happy and I like to think that this is really who I am.

blog love

I just wanted to thank Anna Caroline over at Design Studio 210 for giving me the One Lovely Blog Award. I am supposed to pay it forward and name 15 newly found blogs but I am afraid I'll have to pass on that part for now. Anyway, I love Design Studio 210 . Lots of nice pictures and new design. Thank you so much, Anna Caroline, for the award. It is such a great encouragement.

patterns

I love the mix of the b/w graphic carpet and the flowery drapery in the laundry room on the top image. From design*sponge. I tried a similar combo in my couch. I think I am happy with the result.

corner view - place of reflection - stockholm

This week's theme is places of reflection and and I've chosen a special time rather than place. Evenings. Listening to music, reading, walking around in my house or in my garden, preparing for the next day or just going through the day that went. Both ups and downs.

ladder

This is so simple and yet very inspiring to me. We have a ladder like this - it came with the house and it's spotted with paint (both from previous owners and from us) and this picture helped me find the beauty in it.
Picture from the always inspiring The Selby.

corner view - staple food - stockholm

I guess this is not by definition staple food. You could use the strawberries for jam and then they would qualify, right? And potatoes are the pasta of Sweden ( at least a generation ago). Anyway, this time of year this is my favourite food.
