corner view - favourite dish - stockholm

When it comes to food I have many favourite dishes. This one is from a Turkish cookbook that I use a lot, Sultan's Kitchen by Özcan Ozan. It's fried eggplants and peppers with yogurt-garlic and tomato sauces.

This week's theme in Jane's corner view was chosen by Joyce.

vitra

Vitra asked people to send them photos of Vitra products in their homes. See the whole photo album here.
The Elephant stool by Sori Yanagi is an old favourite of mine.

OK

Pillow cover OK by Elisabeth Dunker. I first saw it over at Fine Little Day, fell immediately in love and went and bought it at Envelop. I'll post my own photo as soon as I get it.

random

I am a lazy blogger these days. Yesterday was wednesday and corner view and I missed that. Sorry. Anyway, glad to have you back, Jane and I'll be back on track next week.
As I mentioned earlier, I am still hooked on crocheting. I am getting a little tired of amugurumis though and have been looking for patterns elsewhere. As expected there are a lot of goodies on etsy. The only problem is that I don't understand the english patterns so I am trying to make myself some kind of informative and decorative translator to hang on the wall. This is what I've come up with so far. I found the translation on virkverket. Now I only need to learn photoshop better. One thing leads to another...

danish home

The home of Trine Andersen, owner of Ferm Living. I really like the Rush Hour pattern.

bathroom

Usually I dont look twice when it comes to bathrooms. I don't know why. Maybe beacause I find bathroom decor boring. Maybe scent candles, seashells and bathing foam in stylish bottles is not my thing. This one however. How do these talanted people do it? How did they decide the perfect border between tiles and grout? And how did they manage to create a bathroom both retro and yet very modern? I am impressed. Deeply.

corner view - water - stockholm

Maybe strange pictures for a water theme. I choose them because I often think about when we renovated the kitchen of our little house a couple of years ago. For two months we had only one water tap. We brushed our teeth, went to the bathroom, took showers and did the dishes in a tiny bathroom. I remember the amazing feeling of relief when we reinstalled the water in the kitchen. Our house was built in 1932 and at that time a family of four lived here sharing one bedroom and with no running water in the house. Everyone knows that water is a luxury in large parts of the world. Here too. We just dont think about it that way to often. At least I don't.

On the pictures same spots in our kitchen before and after renovation.

Water theme chosen by Trinsch. All the links at Dana's.

Ingo Maurer

Lucellino, by Ingo Maurer. Created in 1992, it must have been ahead of its time? Or maybe nothing is. Anyway, a stunning lamp here in pics from Dwell and Liselotte Risell. Ingo Maurer has created a whole serie of bird lamps and I am not sure if it really is Lucellino on the pictures. It could be Birdie's Nest too. Anyway.

weekend

We painted the other half of the living/diningroom. Now we're waiting for wallpaper samples.
I made a simple pomegranate marmelade which we had together with goat cheese. It was very easy to make and tasted delicious. If you want to try it just boil sugar, lime juice and pomegranate. Use a rod mixer to smooth the marmelade and let it simmer until thick.

And thank you so much Guusje for the sweet and encouraging words about my blog. I am sorry to say though that I am a bore when it comes to challenges like this and I think I'll pass but I still want to say how much I appreciate your blog. It feels like such a happy and joyful place to visit. Thank you Guusje!
