I guess this is not by definition staple food. You could use the strawberries for jam and then they would qualify, right? And potatoes are the pasta of Sweden ( at least a generation ago). Anyway, this time of year this is my favourite food.

These would be staples in my book! I love the look of the tiny new potatoes, fresh from the garden just waiting to be cooked and tossed with butter and parsley.

I figured "staple food" was just anything you eat all the time, so I think those things count. My middle child tries to live off of nothing but starches, except strawberries are one of the few fresh things she will eat, so we have a lot of strawberries and potatoes here, too.

oh yes, potatoes must be staple food, and i think a staple is anything that you have on hand that goes into lots of the things that you cook. and you chose two of my favorites. everyone's favorites, i might guess. yum.

delicious summer food! The new potatoes you get in scandinavia are the best. I always love to eat them when I stay in Finland. They are much better than what we get here in Berlin.
