Welcome 2010!

Happy New Year

lotta kuhlhorn book covers

I got this book, Den perfekte vännen by Jonas Karlsson for Christmas. A good read but I am posting about the cover. It doesn't show on the photo but the letters are glossy and feel like stickers. The cover is made by Lotta Kuhlhorn. I knew her retro patterns from before but I hadn't noticed her book covers. More here.

between feasts

I am trying out different photoshop effects. This is diffuse glow. A more white and dizzy reality. This was the window last year. Without diffuse glow.

A Christmas gift from me to me.

dining rooms

I love holidays. I love friends and family sleeping over and I love cooking and eating together. The more the merrier. If I would to draw my own house I would make the bedrooms tiny and the dining room big. Wouldn't it be nice to have a table with 12 seats just standing there waiting?

I don't know the source of these images. Sorry.

This is S*Exaduz Lady Marmelade. We call her Malla. She's a four month old Devon Rex and she moved in with us this Saturday. The first hours were shocking to her and she didn't eat for 24 hours. Now she's already adjusting and runs around the house making herself at home. And she sleeps a lot. Curled up on a sheepskin by a radiator, snoring. We can't stop looking at her. Stroking her. She's unbelievably soft.

I loved to see important parts of the creative process behind a finished project. Read more here

This year's first snow fell this week in Stockholm. A lot of snow. From wet grey to crispy white over night. Wonderful. They say it's here to stay too so maybe we'll have a white christmas. This weekend I am going to shovel and sit by the fireplace.

Photos by Michael Paul.
I can't stop looking at the blurry chestnuts. And the soft light is amazing. A very well known photographer who I discovered this week.

new shop

Sanna Annukka's new shop is open.
Beauties from top:
Wooden Birds
The Shaman's Tepee

This wouldn't work in my home but I really like these colorful rooms.
Especially the overlapping carpets in the last image and the combination of ethnic and flowery patterns in the middle one.

and also

I've been crocheting. Could there be anything more relaxing to do? I am trying to make this pendant by Pickles.
Thank you Tiger of DIY OR DIE for the link.

The last couple of weeks have been turbulent in my life. I haven't been sure if I ever would find the energy or urge to blog again. I wanted to write something here but I didn't know what to write. Thank you all for your comments and e-mails regarding my absence. Today I found myself by the computer surfing my favourite sites. Like before. It was a good thing. I found this stunning home and wanted to save it. Black, brown, grey, earthy and raw. And that red sofa. And the art wall.

Already Tuesday? This past weekend we cooked a lot. And went to riding school. As we do every weekend.

Loving these prints by Sanna Annukka.
Have you seen her work for Marimekko?
