This weeks theme was a hard one. As I mentioned last week Stockholm is surrounded by water. It's also comparatively clean and there are a lot of public bathing places in the city centre and in the suburbs. But when I think about beaches I think about the ocean, salty waves and endless walks in the sand. Stockholm has a beautiful archipelago where you can find small sand beaches but most beaches in Stockholm look like this one, a 10 minutes walk from my home. As you can see, this june night the beach was pretty deserted. Basically just me and the duck.

ReplyDeletethe pier looks lovely. great that you have such beaches in the city! in berlin one has to take the train to the suburbs or the surrounding country-side to actually swim in a lake (which is not too bad, so i won't complain...).

last summer we spent a week in Stockholm before island hopping. i was so happy to find so many nice beaches in the city. we were biking around and taking a swim in several places. i remember in Lindholmen was one very nice beach..

ReplyDeleteThere is a calm and intimacy in smaller bodies of water, don't you think? ...and actually, most of the time I prefer a little tree lined creek to a massive ocean. Though they both have such great qualities...Thank you for sharing your view!
