measure

When I was little my parents measured our growth using a book, a pencil and a yardstick. We had a special wall in the kitchen to mark our lenght and I remember it with much joy. So far I have done the same with my kids but I have wanted something more permanent. A more obvious place. I found these measuring sticks (each 50 cm) on Granit and bought four of them. Then we cut them a little to make them right and just glued them to the wall. Our kids are enthusiastic and I feel grateful and humble over how little it takes to make them happy.
How do you keep track of your children's growth?

  1. I love this idea and if you ever move you can take it with you. I look forward to seeing the growth spurts. xoxo

  3. Great idea. We've had measuring markers on walls in previous houses, but not in our current home. Right now I just meauring by the incredible speed they outgrow their clothes ;)

  4. My Grandmother used to do something like this for all of her grandchildren and I loved it, too. You've inspired me - I'll try to do something like this too!

  5. I mark directly on the kitchen wall with a pencil too. I like your idea - I might do something similar.

  6. love this idea. we have pencil markings on the inside of their door, but more important to me are the calendars i keep for each kid, with a photo of the month, their weight, height, and special happenings. we don't think we will be in our house forever, so i don't want to get too attached to the door pencil markings!

  8. great idea! actually my fiance's daughter is almost 9, but every time she's at the house we keep track on a wall with pencil of her height. well, now we've been painting our little house inside and when i came to that area, what i did was paint around it leaving the heights in a square and i'll put a frame around the square on the wall, then she can continue on. i couldn't bare to paint over it. :) enjoy your weekend!
